Guides / Hair / Scalp Actives
How to pick scalp and hair actives for the format you are actually making
Hair and scalp formulas need actives that respect sebum, follicle environment, and fiber mechanics — not just perfume and slip.
Scalp-first thinking
Soothing, microbiome-aware, and barrier-support ingredients often outperform aggressive “detox” stories for everyday leave-ons.
Fiber care
Bond-building claims, cuticle sealers, and lightweight conditioning agents change combability and frizz differently in rinse-off vs leave-on formats.
Format fit
Watery scalp serums, ampoules, and milks demand different preservative and viscosity strategies than masks or oils.

Open the exact product page — Niacinamide 1 kgFor me, niacinamide, nicotinamide, or methyl nicotinate — 2% on the face would be clinically a lot. I dumped it on once and stayed red for a few hours. My skin isn't thin, and it isn't that sensitive or reactive. I use 0.5% and that's fine, no need for more. After a while with niacinamide and nicotinamide the skin kind of gets used to it and barely flushes. Methyl nicotinate is like the first time, every time :)
